There are thousands of guitars out in the world today and vary in many small and insignificant manners to beginning and even intermediate players. However, there are some main types of guitars that we can discuss for out intents and purposes. First and foremost, the classical guitar is probable the most common guitar out there. These guitars are of average size and build and are usually light in color and weight. They usually incorporate nylon strings instead of steel strings; thus giving it a lighter, softer, and more warmer sound then steel string guitars. The wood going into building these guitars is usually mahogany or fine Indian Rosewood. Another type of guitar is the electric guitar. This guitar can come in many different varieties and styles. Most commonly however, this guitar type is made from Ash wood and is heavier than a classical guitar. The strings are made of steel and give it a sharper and a more bold sound than a classical guitar. Electric guitars also have no sound hole to produce their sound; rather, they have electrical inputs that hook up the guitar into an amp which allows it to electronically transmit the vibrations of the strings over the speakers. Another type of guitar is the jazz guitar. Most people would confuse a classical guitar with a jazz guitar because they look so similar in makeup. Some of the subtle differences are that jazz guitars usually have steel strings and the color of their wood is usually brighter in tone. Also, many jazz guitars also have arched backs in order to produce heavier tones.
